Fanfare from Sequim City Band
Mary Whitmore
Mary Whitmore was born on September 25, 1935 and passed away on May 4, 2016. She played 3rd clarinet in the Sequim City Band for 9 years.
She was very quiet and self-effacing but she was always there to lend a hand in the band library, the board or setting up for a party. She was also a consistent Band-Aide but wished to remain anonymous as she was
wont to do in so many things.
Mary began her musical career late in life first playing the clarinet with lessons and in Signe Crawford's beginning band, The Spring Chickens. She also played in several bell choirs, the Port Townsend Summer Band,
and in the Sequim Community Orchestra. She was an active
member and librarian for the clarinet choir "Olympic Winds Ensemble".
Mary was also an active volunteer for the Sequim Guild of the Seattle Children's Hospital.
Mary and her shy smile will be missed by all.
